Yale Scholarship Recipient Shares His Application and Provides Insight into His Journey to College Acceptance
by George Holm, Yale '26
My journey to getting accepted into Yale goes a little differently than most students. As a QuestBridge scholarship match recipient, I worked hard to get my applications all finished before October and was matched with a school on December 1 of my senior year. To give context, the QuestBridge scholarship offers full rides to FGLI (I fall under the low-income category) students who excel academically. You write several essays and if you are chosen to become a finalist, then you have a couple of weeks to write supplementary essays to a list of top colleges where you rank up to 12 schools and get matched with the highest one that accepts you for a full ride. In the end, I wrote 47 different essays for this scholarship, and it took up a lot of my time early senior year writing and perfecting each one so I had the best chance to get matched with a school.
